Island Time!

The Caribbean islands. The next one is as beautiful as the last one…

I recently needed a break from the frigid New York City winter so I decided to book a few weeks in the Caribbean, island hopping. I visited Saint Croix, Saint Thomas, and Puerto Rico. My first time at all three. In the past I’ve visited the Dominican Republic (several times) as well as Barbados, Aruba and the Bahamas. So I was psyched to check out these three islands I had never been to.

I flew from NYC to St. Croix, connecting in Miami. I stayed at a super cute historical hotel in Christiansted and explored the island for 7 days. St. Croix is very laid back and the vibe was chill. It’s not as touristy as St. Thomas. It’s actually what you want if you want to unwind and relax. I then took a 2-hour ferry over to St. Thomas, where the vibe shouted tourist holiday! It had a fun, exciting vibe to it with lots of people from all over the world visiting (and living) on this bustling island. Cruise ships harbor in and you can feel the buzz of thousands of people having just arrived. There are lots of good restaurants and plenty of places to shop. I enjoyed a day trip over to St. John and spent time at a gorgeous resort where I plugged into a cabana to work and enjoyed the pool, delicious food and great service. If I ever visit St. John again, I definitely want to stay at that resort.

From St. Thomas, I jumped on a 20-minute flight over to San Juan, Puerto Rico! Old San Juan is incredibly charming and I had such a nice time strolling down the cobblestoned streets with the pastel colored houses. The sound of salsa, and the smell of beautifully flavored food envelops you and you feel excited to experience it all. I didn’t get to visit the other parts of the island but I’ve promised myself a return trip. Very soon!

I had such a blast enjoying the warm sun, the crystal blue water, that island vibe and as always, great people.
